About Starcraft
In the distant future a small group of human exiles have been doomed to fight for survival on the edge of the galaxy. Through military strength, espionage and deceit, a unified Terran government has maintained an uneasy peace. As resources run short, however, these Confederate nations find themselves looking towards the rich worlds of their alien neighbors, the enigmatic Protoss. To further complicate matters, it seems that a previously unknown and deadly species known only as the Zerg has entered Protoss space and is destroying everything in its path. The time for war has come...

Release Notes
- Starcraft for Mac OS X requires Mac OS X, version 10.1 or later.
- Starcraft for Mac OS X should be installed on a hard drive that is formatted as Mac OS Extended. To find out how your hard drive is formatted, select your hard drive in the Finder and choose "Show Info" from the File menu.
- For the best color quality, it is recommended that you run Mac OS X s Display Calibrator Assistant. You can find it by choosing Displays in System Preferences. Select the Color tab and click the Calibrate button. Then follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate your display.
- Networking over IPX, AppleTalk, Serial and Direct Modem-Modem is not available in Starcraft for Mac OS X.
- UDP Networking added. You can now play on your local TCP/IP based local network by choosing "Local Area Network (UDP/IP)" in the Multiplayer options screen. An upcoming release of the Classic Mac and Windows versions will also support this feature, allowing LAN play between these three versions.
- If the computer goes to sleep while you re in the battle.net chat screen, you may get disconnected from Battle.net. If this happens, simply disconnect and then reconnect to Battle.net.
- If music is turned off in the game, you may notice occasional pauses while the CD-ROM drive spins up. You may want to leave music turned on to avoid this.
- Please do not lock any of the files in the Starcraft folder. This will prevent you from being able to connect to Battle.net.
Installation
1. Find the Starcraft folder on your hard drive, and open it.
2. Drag all the files from the "Brood War for Mac OS X" folder into the "Starcraft Files" folder.
3. Select the Starcraft (Carbon) file in your Starcraft Files folder.
4. Choose Make Alias from the File Menu.
5. Move the new alias file to the Starcraft Folder.
6. Double click the Starcraft (Carbon) alias to play.
Note: With Mac OS X version 10.1.5, it is necessary to disable the StarCraft Startup Options screen or the game will crash.
To do this:
- Start the StarCraft or Brood War application.
- Click on the don t show again checkbox in the Startup Options screen.
- Click on the OK button (the game will crash).
- Finally, start the StarCraft or Brood War application again, and it should run. -->
