About OpenMap
A mapping application and a Java Beans based toolkit for building applications and applets displaying geographic information. Using OpenMap components, you can access data from legacy applications, in-place, in a distributed setting. At its core, OpenMap is a set of Swing components that understand geographic coordinates. These components help you show map data, and help you handle user input events to manipulate that data. They can also be configured to create map images for servlets.
The package contains layers that can display Shape, E00, MIF and NGA (formally NIMA) databases, including RPF (CADRG and CIB), VPF (VMAP, DCW), DTED data. It also contains layers that easily display comma-separated value (CSV) data files containing latitudes, longitudes and name information.
OpenMap has been open source software since 1998.
