There are five blocks of Latin characters in Unicode: Basic Latin, Latin-1, Latin Extended-A, Latin Extended-B, and Latin Extended Additional. The Latin Extended keyboard layout uses dead keys for the direct input of these characters. It strives to be as comprehensive as possible. You type the dead key first and the base character second.
International Users: The download provided here is for the U.S. (ANSI) keyboard. The Latin Extended keyboard layout is available for most keyboards distributed by Apple in Europe and Japan. See the web site for details and downloads.
